Inspired by Greatness

9 Apr

I had the very rare opportunity to sit in a room with 150 brilliant CEOs – incredibly accomplished individuals to say the least. They had all gathered to hear the CEO of my company give a presentation about “The Politics of International Business”…sounds so boring…right? What they got instead was a sincere message from an incredible man about his family, faith and business.

He spoke about the explosive growth our company experienced in the past 10 years, and he also detailed the anguish of watching the company stock go from $70 to $2 within 6 weeks. I was completely captivated by his personal story and journey of the past six months. Above all, I was completely shocked and inspiried with his transparency about his faith. He didn’t hold back in this very initimidating room. He let everyone know that “with God, all things are possible” and when he was asked how he managed his way through it all, he simply said, “I have to be honest…I pray alot. And through prayer, I gain the wisdom and strengh I need to do my job.”

He described his job as CEO of a Fortune 500 company as a ministry.

Maybe you’ll never be in “full time church ministry”, but you can inspire and change people right where you are. My CEO changed my life…and he’s not even a pastor.

We Voted – A Picture Story

Politics and Joy

3 Nov

I’m more excited for tomorrow’s election than I am for Christmas. This only comes around every 4 years and for some reason beyond me, I am addicted to the news updates, drudge reports, and mug slinging. Interestingly enough though, I hate TALKING about politics with people.

It’s sick – I know.

Mark and I are planning on getting up at 5 am tomorrow, bundling up, and waiting for our polling location to open. We will be taking pictures and spreading joy – yes, even at the polling place.

If you are a Christian who plans on standing in line at the polls tomorrow, bring something more than your vote….bring joy to others around you. So many people will be grumpy, impatient and jaded tomorrow. Here’s some simple tips:

  1. Smile
  2. Make small talk
  3. Bring coffee or snacks and share them
  4. Be patient
  5. Be KIND!!!!

Me, McCain, and Michael (as in Jackson)

29 Aug

What do we all have in common? Our birthdays are TODAY!

Here’s to McCain for choosing a female running mate! Here’s to Michael or not being in legal trouble this year! Here’s to me for making it through the DNC without vomiting!

Kate asked me a question after the INVESCO Field fiasco last night: “Did you find yourself being swayed for Obama?”. The answer is a resounding NO!

Now, more than ever, I am energized for McCain, for Republican ideals and for my country.

Despite the rhetoric, we were happy to witness an historic event last night (and to see Shawn Johnson). Here’s some pics from my week:

28 Aug

What a week so far and we still have the largest event still coming up: Barak’s speech at Invesco Field at Mile High. We will be watching history as the first African American will be nominated for President of the United States of America…not to mention some AWESOME entertainment in the stadium:

  • Yonder Moutain String Band
  • Stevie Wonder
  • Sheryl Crow
  • And rumored Bruce Springsteen & Bon Jovi (Mark only agreed to go because of Springsteen)

Pictures to come from Mark’s iPhone!

I wish I had…

25 Aug

…an iPhone so I could remotely blog all week during the DNC.

It should be an amazing week for me!! My company has me in Downtown Denver all week long to manage DNC parties and media lounges (I have such a cool job) It will be quiet around here, but I’ll try to upload pictures everynight.

Let the crazy parties begin!!!

Don’t Misquote Me

Yesterday, I attended a community event for the upcoming DNC in Denver in August. To my shock, I was in the Rocky Mountain News today….crazy public forums! I don’t even think that’s what I said, but it sounds pretty good anyway:
