In My Wildest Dreams

8 Oct

I think and talk about dreaming a lot. Many people talk about the importance of dreaming big and what they hope to be one day.

I have been thinking really hard about what I want to be “when I grow up.” What would I do in my wildest dreams? What would I be if my biggest dream came true. The answer…unfiltered and without excuse: A stay at home mom.

WHAT?!?! You heard me.

It sounds so mundane and I can’t believe it myself. I have always been a big dreamer – destined for fame I’m sure! It’s really hard for me to even admit this to myself much less a blog post. I have been labeled the eternal working girl on the fast track to a successful carreer.

But, I have finally come to terms with my simple and humble dream. I am consumed by thoughts of starting a family and being able to stay at home with a baby. Cooking, cleaning, volunteering at my local church and buying an apron. More than ministry, writing, starting my own business, or leading the next generation in worship (by the way, those are my other dreams).

What would you do in your wildest dreams???

Gosh, that sound’s amazing! It must feel good, finding your dream!
I dream about travelling to far-away-places, to take pictures that make peolpe feel things, and to do something that will make an impression in the future, like raising children. I think dreaming is important, it keeps us fighting!

Being a mother is still my wildest dream after six children and twenty-one years! I enjoy the challenges of running our business (most of the time), organizing the homeschool high school that we helped to start, all of the political stuff with which I am involved and many other volunteer activities BUT without parallel, my most fulfilling activity is raising my children.

I am confident that one day God will give you the desire of your heart. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” You WILL be an amazing mother one day and your children (and the rest of the world through what you have done) will be blessed.

i love how the bible says God gives us the desires of our heart. God has given you the desire to be a stay at home mom, He has placed that in your heart and He is going to see it through. keep on dreaming about those days…they are on the horizon.

You are so special, Judi. Your dream is a beautiful dream. I have always considered motherhood….as God’s highest calling….
And the sahm, the world’s greatest profession….

i dont think thats a simple dream. motherhood will be your most challenging and rewarding dream come true. you’ll pour everything you have into your children and you will watch them grow and make choices based on the values you raised them with – they will then go into the world and touch and change their community. all the time, love, tears, and prayers invested in them through the years will be fleshed out and you will stand back and think – wow…i did THAT?

and i know you will be phenomenal at it!!!

Awesome Judi. Thats my dream too. To be a stay at home mom to 4 or 5 beautiful kids. It actually pans me that I have to work (even though its part time).

From one dreamer to another; I pray your dream comes true very soon

My wife was able to be a stay at home mom for both of my girls and it was the greatest thing we ever did, sure there was sacrifice in money but they grow up so fast it was well worth it. My prayers are for you to have the same opportunity with a baby. Stay at home moms have the most important job in the world, and that’s coming from a dad.

Wait a minute. All of your dreams are the same as mine! We are the SAME!

You have such a beautiful dream!

I’m almost embarrassed to admit my dream was the lawyer/career woman on the fast track! Then I met and fell in love with Jacob and I’m sure God had his hand on this the entire time and knew my real love/job/career would be a stay at home mom. I fought it hard for awhile, always living in regret or wishing I were doing something else, but now I have fallen in love with it and thank God for a wonderful husband with a great job who makes it possible to stay home with my munchkins!

My dream/prayer now is that I would be the perfect mom for all of my kids. Not over extending them and over involving them in activities, but finding that balance. Also that they would come to know Jesus as Jacob & I do and live a life in Him.

Lisa – I had such a good time with you too! I wish you guys lived here…maybe someday. I hope the rest of your trip is DA-BOMB

UGH. I am SOO on the verge of sobbing right now reading this. I really am. I’m sucking in my cheeks so I don’t.

Buy the apron now. The babies will come at the right time. The time God has planned. But buy the apron now. ;-)

You have reminded me how lucky I am to be home with my babies. You have reminded me how much I take it for granted. You have reminded me that I can be better. Thank you. ;-)

My heart is heavy for you b/c I know your story and how much you want to be a mom. You are going to be a continual prayer for me. I want your belly to be huge! :D

Wow. In a different way than I believe you intended, this post spoke volumes to me today. I AM living your dream. And the funny thing is, I’m always looking at career gals like you wishing I was that. Isn’t it funny how we do that? The grass really does seem greener on the other side.

God is teaching me that He HAS given me the most important job on earth. To raise up the next generation of leaders, right here in my own home. And I will learn to be content with the task He has priviledged me with. I am determined to stop looking outside my widow panes longingly. I am going to keep my eyes and heart focused inward. Towards my home, children, and husband. Because THEY are where I’ve been called. And there’s no shame at all in that.

Your post reminded me of the true nobility in what I do everyday. Even though most days it feels so unimportant and unappreciated. Thank you for that.

I pray that one day, your dream comes true!
