Wendy’s makes my favorite burger – the Quarter Pound Double Stack with Cheese – YUM! (if you know me, you know I LOVE beef)

It used to be $1.29 and Wendy’s recently added it to the value menu for only $0.99. I was pretty excited about this, but to my dismay, the value version of the burger has only cheese, ketchup and mayo vs. the original with mustard, ketchup, cheese, onion and pickle.
I am further dismayed because each time I order the delicious delicacy, it comes with something different – pickles, no pickles, onion, no onion, mayo, mustard…..AH!
I guess that is bound to happen when you mess with something that was already perfect. I’ll pay the extra $0.29 to have a consistently great burger…who else is with me??

Not me. I like to see diversity. I also prefer real bread in the buns. Real cheese would be a plus as well.
Come to think of it, throw the whole thing away and buy some real food that doesn’t lead to obesity and heart attacks.
To hell with all the big fast food chains and the unhealthy crap they sell!
Sounds like you have some bitterness…fast food is real food too. My very poor family of 6 growing up could have dinner for $6 by having $0.99 whoppers. Try and do that with all fresh ingredients: real bread, cheese, and any other organic produce you would add to it. Both of my parents worked – so it’s not like we had all of the time in the world to prepare a fresh dinner. The fast food industry plays an integral part in working families on a budget – I support that.
BTW – I did just have a $7.50 sandwich from Whole Foods and it was the best I’ve ever had – yes the ingredients were fresh and delicious (I’m somewhat of a sandwich connoisseur)
i’m with ya! i absolutely hate it when a restaurant changes up my favorite item on their menu. when mcdonald’s got rid of the hot cherry pies, i almost felt betrayed. i really miss that cherry pie….
The double-stack was on the Value Menu when I was in High School, and then they suddenly increased the cost by 30 cents. But now it is back the way it should be, with the most delicious dollar you could ever hope to spend.
Barge – I had no idea it used to be on the value menu. Do you remember if it had pickles and onion back then?? You have sparked my curiosity!
Yes it had pickles and onions back then, it was a thing of sheer beauty.
I remember always picking off the pickles and onions in the days of my youth.
